Three and a half years after the kick-off meeting in Valencia, the iPRODUCE partners met for a final time. On 7 July 2023, the partners gathered in Brussels for the final review of the project, and showcased the project results and engaged in meaningful discussions regarding the project’s achievements.

This collaborative effort spanned 42 months and was centred around the development of an innovative social manufacturing platform, digital tools and services, and the promotion of collaboration among manufacturers, makers, and consumers. The platform aims to foster interaction and collaboration among a diverse array of actors and stakeholders, with a specific emphasis on user-driven open innovation and co-creation.

The iPRODUCE project actively explored and implemented collaborative activities across multiple consumer sectors. These sectors encompassed a wide range of industries, including furniture, electronics, mobility, and various others. By focusing on these diverse sectors, the project sought to unlock the potential for user-driven innovation and co-creation in everyday consumer products and services.

At the end of the meeting, both the Project Officer and the external reviewer found themselves in agreement that the project was a success.

The iPRODUCE partners can proudly reflect on their collective achievements which generated impact across various sectors:

  • the successful establishment of a social manufacturing platform (OpIS Platform), with 10 new collaborative tools that provide the opportunity for manufacturers, makers and consumers to deal with a wide range of products, large-scale production and a bigger customer base;
  • the successful organisation of Open Competition1, Open Competition 2 and the Hackathon, with 95 newly developed concept ideas and 17 awarded winners;
  • the participation in more than 38 external events and 11  presentations at fairs and conferences (see the project news);
  • the successful establishment of the iPRODUCE website as the main point for project information, having had more than 18,900 visitors and 36,840 page views;
  • the establishment of an online community on social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) with more than 567 followers and 20,300 visits;
  • the development of 31 project-related videos, which have had more than 1000 visualisations;
  • the development of seven scientific publications, and much more.

These accomplishments stand as a testament to the team’s dedication and innovative approach to fostering user-driven open innovation and co-creation, ultimately transforming the landscape of manufacturing and consumer interaction.
