On the 18th of January 2021, Dr. Ria Pechlivani, Senior Researcher Grade C at CERTH/ITI and R&D manager of AMU of CERTH/ITI, successfully co-organized and chaired together with Mr. Dimitris Moustakas, CEO of the startup company AidPlex, the 1st on-line workshop on “Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing Technologies under Greek Social Manufacturing”. The workshop that was organized under the umbrella of the EU H2020 iPRODUCE project hosted more than 60 attendees from 10 different EU countries.

The online event showcased the ongoing work and existing practices within the domain of social manufacturing in Greece through presentations from top Greek 3D printing manufacturers, makers, makerspaces, and researchers and scientists. Invited speakers from AMU CERTH-ITI, AidPlex, International Hellenic University (IHU), OK!Thess, 3DHUB, Thes3D, Youthnest, Elektronio, ANiMA and Lino Group presented ongoing co-creation and co-design activities in the Greek ecosystem focused on additive manufacturing & 3D printing in an array of applications, such as arts, medical, robotics, automotive, agile tools, smart autonomous systems, among others.

The AMU of CERTH/ITI presented its revolutionary work in systemic innovation of additive manufacturing with other digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, IoT and augmented and virtual reality, which is taking place within the iPRODUCE project and two NSRF projects: Q3D and Odysseus.

  1. “A Social Manufacturing Framework for Streamlined Multi-stakeholder Open Innovation Missions in Consumer Goods Sectors”, presented by Dr. R. Pechlivani, (Senior Researcher Grade C at CERTH/ITI), under the framework of iPRODUCE project.
  2. “Quality Assurance in 3D Printing”, presented by Dr. Paschalis Charalampous (Postdoctoral Research Associate at CERTH/ITI) under the framework of Q3D project.
  3. “Intelligent & Automated systems for enabling the design, simulation and development of integrated processes and products” presented by V. Papadopoulou (Research Assistant at ICERTH/ITI).

The attendees of the workshop had the opportunity to be guided through AMU’s state-of-the-art 3D printing infrastructures with a virtual tour performed by T. Kontodina (Research Assistant at CERTH/ITI), who also demonstrated AMU’s latest innovative 3D printed smart prototypes, services and products.
